Infected Horde is a great resources to earn parts for Chief gear. You want to place as high as possible as a individual and as an alliance to get as much gear parts as possible. In my state I win Horde almost every time (almost because sometimes work means i can’t participate and I have some great players in my state who sometimes beat me.) Even though i win that doesn’t make me an expert but it does give me some insight i can share with everyone.
Horde is a scheduled event that you have 24hrs to complete every alliance i know of has a scheduled time they like to do Horde during and so its easy to plan for the event. First thing to do is just that plan for it find out who might be offline and who would like some reinforcements before it ever begins. This will give you a good starting point but make sure you don’t guarantee that you will reinforce someone as this can hurt your alliance sometimes. Always tell them you will try and help. The reason for this is you may have guaranteed to help someone but they have all their troops home but others are burning because they were out gathering and that’s who you should be reinforcing instead. Yes i know if its planned people should not be out gathering but I can tell you to mine and every other leader and R4 out there dismay their is always a bunch that are gathering every time.
The key to Horde in my opinion is troops and marches! Make sure you leave about a full march at home to handle the first few rounds of Horde but all the rest of your marches should be sent out reinforcing people (as many as you can depending on how many troops you have). the best thing is if you can find someone who has troops out gathering and you are the only reinforcements they have this will maximize your points if not try and find people to reinforce that can use the help. Always watch for new HQ’s to start burning as this is a clear sign they need help reinforce immediately if you have a free march and troops otherwise post the cords in alliance chat to get an alliance member to reinforce remember this is a team event as much as it is a solo one. Follow this process until you finish wave 6. As soon as the last of wave 6 has hit your reinforced hq’s and your hq recall all your troops. Next wave is a captain wave which are very important.
Captain waves happen on wave 7, 14, and 17 and this method should be follwed for all 3 of those waves. Only certain HQ’s are hit during captain waves which ones seems to be completely random. But the points you get off a captain wave is many times more what you would get off a regular wave. As soon as the wave shows up scan the list** (if not sure where to find this see bottom of this page) to see if your HQ is on the list or not. If its not then start sending every march you have to the HQ’s being hit starting with the top and working your way down. You can send every troop and march as your hq wont be hit during this wave if your not on the list. If you are on the list you can still send out marches you just have to ensure all are home before the wave hits your hq. (The talent Urgent recall can be used in this scenario to get all your troops home in 3 seconds if needed) Back to while you have your marches sent out and your HQ is not being hit watch for when those hq’s get hit and as soon as they do recall your troops from those HQ’s (make sure they have been hit first it sucks to recall a second before the wave hits) now as soon as your troops get home send immediately out to other hq’s on the list whomever you can get to in time. Speeding marches for this is a good way of using those items and helps you get some extra points and rewards just don’t over do it.
Once the first captain wave is over send your troops back to whom you were reinforcing before it started so that you can resume your defense. The only exception is that now at wave 8 your getting close to needing troops at home. you can keep defending others all the way to Wave 11 at wave 12 you need to ensure you have at least a full march and heros in your hq (assuming your HQ 30 with Tier 10 troops if lower level you will need more troops home). Wave 13 is a wave that a lot of people lose on if you don’t have high troops.
After the second captain wave is wave 15 which kills a huge amount of most alliances. Unless you have a lot of troops or some very strong stats this is the time to consolidate in your base and maximize your points at home. If you have lots of troops and you feel confident beating wave 15 then you can continue to send out troops for defense. I can tell you many HQ30s send out troops all the way to wave 17 which is the final captain wave with no problems. Like i said in the beginning this is a troop and marches event the more the better. This is one key reason to never stop building troops and don’t waste them on unnecessary attacks.
After Third and final captain wave is wave 18 at this point very few people will still be in. I wish i could give you a suggestion on how to beat this wave or wave 19 but as of this writing i have never met anyone who has even come close. I can tell you that i lose on these waves even with over 2 million tier 10 troops in my base.
Final note there are two waves that are alliance HQ waves Wave 10 and wave 20. Always have the strongest player with the highest rally be the first person in the Alliance HQ and fill after that person is in. If a smaller player joins the HQ first kick them out and let the strongest in first, its not worth risking the wave over who got their first. This wave generates a decent amount of points for the alliance. Wave 10 is not that hard but Wave 20 is impossible or at least is at this writing. I have no idea how to beat that wave or if its even something the developers have thought about.
This should provide a good overview of how to maximize points on horde. Please as always if you have any questions or i didn’t answer something or if i have something wrong let me know.
